Implementation and monitoring of Maternity Strategy for NI.

DRO for maternity SAIs.

Specific qualifications and experience required

Midwife live on register.

Experience at band 7 or above.

Career Milestones

1992 qualified as a registered nurse.

1996 qualified as a registered midwife, got first job as a midwife in Antrim Hospital.

2000 went to work in Mater Maternity as part of midwife led team.

2005 became lead midwife for delivery suite.

2008 part time post as midwifery officer at DHSSPS.

2009 full time nursing officer in DHSSPS for midwifery and childrens.

2011 Midwife Consultant, PHA.

What attracted you to this job?

I was enjoying the regional aspect of my work at DHSSPS and had just been involved in the development of the maternity strategy and this post offerred the opportunity to then take forward implementation of the strategy.

Enjoyable aspects of the job/role

I enjoy most aspects of my job particularly the regional perspective.

also enjoy the quality improvement part where i can see work that we are doing is making a difference to the care women an their babies receive.
