Job/Role Summary
I provide high quality teaching of Adult Nursing, for both pre and post registration programmes, engage in scholarly activity, and contribute to the administration as well as outreach activity within the QUB’s School of Nursing.
Specific qualifications and experience required
Primary degree, Higher degree (Masters or equivalent in a relevant subject area), registered with the NMC as a Registered Nurse (Adult Field) on Part 1 of the Register. A willingness to undertake a Post Graduate Teaching qualification- PGCE or equivalent if not already completed. There are a number of other essential and desirable criteria for the role that may apply.
Career Milestones
I have considerable experience as an adult nurse but my most significant experience in practice is as a community nursing sister. It is in the community setting that I developed my knowledge and skills in patient assessment, multi-disciplinary team working and health promotion and prevention. I have been able to put this knowledge and experience to good use in my teaching role. While working in the community I completed an MSc in Nursing with a focus on the health and well-being of Older People and went on then to complete my PGCE. I have continued to study and have recently completed a Doctorate in Nursing Practice.
