50% Clinical work with clients with severe eating disorders. 50% Developmental work. Key Tasks:- Promotion of best standards in therapeutic work across the Trust Improving public information Ensuring close links between commissioners, providers and users Consultation Promotion of co-ordination of delivery of Eating Disorder agenda locally/regionally
Specific qualifications and experience required
Professional qualification, 5 years post qualifying experience, 2 of which should include experience in a therapeutic role in Eating Disorders.
Career Milestones
Training as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist-Introduced me to therapeutic interventions. Working as a group facilitator for alcoholics-Developed my interest in the concept of change. Running a carers group for families(since 2001) where there is an eating disorder-Developed my interest in eating disorders. Finalist RCN nurse of the year 2006- Implementation of Eating Disorders Service. Lead of Eating Disorder Working Group 2007-SLT Mental Health Review. Member of Eating Disorder West (Health and education consortium) since 2003.

It is a real challenge. I need to continue to learn to work in this field. People recover and contribute significantly better in all aspects of their life.

Go for it! You will work hard but if you learn, acquire skills and are adaptable you will make a real difference to people and their families. You will be able to look at your career in the future and say – I made a difference. Interest in this field and a motivation to learn for me are the two most important personal attributes you need.
