Job/Role Summary
Work within a community midwifery team providing care for a defined caseload of women taking into account the individual physicial, mental and emotional needs of mother, baby and family unit.
Deliver high standard of evidenced based practice in all aspects of midwifery care and liaise with other agencies and disciplines where appropriate. To carry out care without direct supervision, deploy staff and mentor midwifery students.
Specific qualifications and experience required
Registered Midwife, Diploma in Midwifery or Degree.
Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Career Milestones
Supporting mothers in their choice of homebirth and safely delivering their babies at home.
Successfully completing the Ultrasound Scanning course and incorporating this skill into my role as community midwife.
Being mentored by senior midwives which has given me invaluable help in supporting and progressing my career.

Be prepared to have the ability to work on your own initiative and have excellent organisational and time management skills. Always strive to be calm under pressure and have excellent listening and communication skills. Identify an experienced midwife mentor to support and advice you.
